  1. Technically? Like the other poster said CWO5 which technically isn’t an enlisted rank.

In reality? Without at least 2 years of college by the time you go for E-7 you become much less competitive in any branch. And the chances of you seeing Master Sergeant or much less Sergeant Major without at least an associates or better yet a Bachelors becomes dismal. You will be competing for promotion against your peers and these “standards” while not official have become the unwritten rule.

And your chances of being selected for Warrant Officer without at least a 2 years degree are slim anymore.

Edit: CBN did you even read a word I wrote? Big HUGE difference between CAN and WILL…

  2. Bonkers said CWO-5, which while true, is not really an enlisted rank. You could conceivably become the ‘Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps’, but the likelihood is remote. Unless we find ourselves in another major war, similar to Vietnam, you would probably find yourself stopped at Gunnery Sergeant (E7). Most E8s and E9s in the US Military possess at least Bachelors degrees and some even hold Masters degrees.

  3. Sgt Major of the Marine Corps.

  4. turns out for any branch of the military, you can make ALL enlisted ranks w/o a college degree.
